For what grade levels is GameSalad for Education suitable?

We’ve seen GameSalad used in middle schools all the way up to post-graduate classes, but the majority of our institutional customers are high schools.

Many of today’s students are digital natives who are comfortable with sophisticated authoring tools and embrace the “maker” mentality — GameSalad is a great fit for these students. As a result, we see more and more students in middle school using the product as well.

For younger learners, GameSalad is a great tool for project-based learning activities, and can also be used in deconstruction exercises, where a game with familiar mechanics and concepts is introduced and demonstrated, and then is examined and modified in a series of cause-effect experiments. (“What do you think will happen if we increase the effect of gravity on the player?”).

Please note that due to COPPA regulations, GameSalad does not allow individuals under the age of 13 to create a GameSalad account.  If you plan to use the product in a classroom setting with students younger than 13, we require the school or teacher create and maintain the account(s), ensuring no personally identifiable student information is shared.
